Where do we begin?

Our goal towards the end of the film photography workshop is to provide participants with an immersive and hands-on experience in the art and craft of film photography. Through the workshop, participants can:

  • Learn the fundamentals by gaining an understanding of film photography which includes camera operation and making deliberate decisions to capture the desired image. Participants will also develop the technical skills needed such as film loading and manual controls of the camera!
  • Explore the artistic possibilities of film with the usage of selected film stocks as each and every one has a  unique colour profile!
  • Encourage creativity and expression as we provide a creative space and direction for participants to express their artistic vision through film photography. Have an image you saw in Instagram that inspired you to do something similar? Do let us know and we will guide you!
  • Cultivate a sense of community as we offer opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for this art form.

Introduction and Tutorial

We’ll introduce you to various types of film cameras & film stocks, learn the basics of photography like lighting, exposure, and composition, as well as tips and tricks to taking better photos.

The cameras that we will be offering to participants are SLR cameras such as the popular AE-1 Program, Minolta X-700, Nikon FM and many more. These cameras are also available in our retail store. 

Photowalk

We will bring you on a Photowalk while you familiarise yourself with a film camera's features. We will provide guidance along the way, teaching you how to capture your desired shots whilst making the best out of your film roll!

In this photowalk, we will show you the different aspects of photography such as landscape, urban, street and portraits. You can apply the knowledge you gained from the introduction earlier to take your desired photos!

 

We are more than happy to accommodate any size from a small to huge group as we have a team of talented photographers ready to guide the participants in their journey of film photography. We have taught workshops for esteemed organizations such as Asian Civilisations Museum and our internal workshops which cover a diverse range of clients and customers alike.
